 A number of
local Independent San Mateo businesses joined in support of the historic
Bay Meadows racetrack. Small business owners in downtown San Mateo
and on 25th avenue posted signs supporting San Mateo’s Bay Meadows
racetrack.
Cheap Pete's Frame Shop in Downtown San Mateo, along with Peninsula Glass on 25th Avenue San Mateo, and The Laurelwood Veterinary Clinic joined with many other San Mateo businesses to host Save Bay Meadows petitions. Approximately 7000 Signatures were gathered by local volunteer residents in support of keeping Bay Meadows. They were presented to the San Mateo Planning Commission at their August meeting to show support for keeping the historic landmark. Note: "Friends of Bay Meadows", an independent volunteer group of citizens, are organizing a ballot measure to stop the destruction of the Bay Meadows racetrack. To help, contact them at: |
