The Save Bay
Meadows Citizens Group is a grassroots organization started by San
Mateo residents who believe a change of use for the 83 acre Bay Meadows
land to a dense commercial development will not only result in the
loss of yet another social/recreational resource and open space, but
will severely impact the quality of life in San Mateo and surrounding
communities.
We wish to preserve San Mateo’s suburban character and diversity
consistent with the principles of Measure H - a 'grass roots' initiative
authored and adopted by the citizens of San Mateo in the early 1990s
to prevent the over-development of our city and to preserve the
quality of life and character of our city for future generations.
Mission Statement
Our goal is to retain the remaining 83 acres of Bay Meadows land as
a 'community resource' that can be used to promote the social, cultural,
and recreational needs of current and future San Mateo residents.
